The Pilatus – Lucerne's local mountain

Dragon's lair, home of giants, tyrant's tomb: the Pilatus, the mountain on Lucerne's doorstep, is steeped in legend. It's also one of the most beautiful sites in central Switzerland: on clear days, visitors to the summit enjoy a breathtaking panorama with 73 Alpine peaks.

High above Zürich's rooftops

Climb the steps of one of the towers of Zürich's Grossmünster church for a breathtaking view over the roofs of the Old Town, across the River Limmat and sparkling Lake Zürich and to the snow-capped Alpine peaks on the horizon.

Switzerland's "soft side"

The Voralpen-Express ("Pre-Alpine Express") from St. Gallen to Lucerne reveals a lesser-known side of Switzerland, far from the snow-capped pinnacles and deep gorges of the high Alps. Along this rail journey, you'll discover a softer landscape with gentle hills, picturesque villages and lush orchards.
